Wow.

In less than 24 hours, my blog has received over 1000 views WORLDWIDE. I can't explain how blessed I feel to have such supportive friends and family who have 'shared' this blog on facebook or twitter and donated. Already, people have been very generous and it's very promising to see this early in the campaign!

Click here to see the original post about what I'm fund raising for, or just scrolllll down a little bit.

A few people have had a couple of problems getting their head round HOW to donate. There is a little yellow 'donate' button to the right that will take you through to PayPal ----->

However, if you do not have a PayPal account and would like to contribute, then please email me at: indigo_laura@hotmail.com and we can sort something out.

Alternatively, if you know me personally - do not hesitate to contact me on facebook, twitter or any other of those new fangled social networking sites that we all seem to love.

SHOE CAMPAIGN

Thank you Pensby Primary School!

A BIG thank you to children, parents and teachers from Pensby Primary School, Wirral, for their generosity in donating a total of 100 pairs of shoes (and counting!) for an orphanage in Dodowa, Ghana: Potter's Village, WORCSA (check the box to the right for more details)

When I travelled to Ghana in 2012 and worked at the orphanage, I noticed that the thing the children needed most was love, care and attention from the volunteers. This year, I have decided that I can spread that love by creating a campaign, where people worldwide can donate a small amount of money to send 100 shoes to this very special place when I return there in June 2013. These children often have to go to school, play football and collect water with no shoes; this leads to cuts and nasty infections from glass and sharp objects which could easily be avoided if they had something as basic as a pair of shoes.

I would like to raise £200 to cover the expensive shipping costs, so that I can take the shoes that students at Pensby Primary School have donated to the orphanage. I will then match the money that is donated. I have seen from first-hand experienced the needs of these children and how we can all make a small change

Please donate what you can - 50p is enough to buy 30 packets of drinking water in a place where clean, pure water is hard to come by.  But £200 is enough to put a pair of shoes on a child's very grateful feet. Think about it.

If you have come to the end of this post then THANK YOU especially if you have donated towards this amazing cause for a place that is very close to lots of people's hearts.  Sometimes, it's difficult asking people to donate because they don't know where their (hard-earned!) money is going- but you should know that 100% (and the money that I will then match) is going straight to these kids in need.

If you have donated, a little something will be on it's way in the post to say thanks!

Thanks to Gwen, for the beautiful picture at the top. God knows my laptop broke and lost most of my pictures. Love you girl xxx

Friends of Ghana

"Multiple home sickness. That's what happens when you leave bits of your heart in so many different places." - Maggie Ryan

A good friend of mine recently tweeted: "Sometimes when I'm going through difficult times I realise other people have far bigger problems than mine.

"And for those with really big problems, I wonder how they do it, I am humbled by people who deal with such huge things."

I asked him if he minded me quoting him on this blog, because what he is going through is so common! What many people re-consider when they visit areas of extreme poverty however, is that it is important to remember that what may be a daily struggle to find food, shelter, safe water, medicine...everybody is doing their best to be happy.

After all, life is extremely precious.
Potter's Village knows this, and gives every single child that second chance to a better, safer, happier life.
